Syllabus (+ objectives - ① language use(expressions), ② 학습에 관한 것(문화, 문법), ③ "will be able to" 'action verb')
1. types of syllabus(+ syllabus - topic, form, assignment and schedule for a course)
① synthetic syllabus- divide L into the pieces and synthesize them, teach predetermined forms in a fixed order
⑴ grammatical syllabus(structural syllabus) - teach 'form' explicitly(focus on forms) - ex) there is/not/is there
⑵ lexical syllabus (teach prefabricated phrases), ⑶ situational syllabus (teach language with the given situation)
⑷ notional-functional syllabus - sequenced according to frequencies of notions(expression as to certain function ex) how is it goin?) and functions(communicative purpose, ex) greeting) - product oriented / CLT
② analytic syllabus(focus on meaning) - purpose(function) of language performances(speech acts) is the starting point of learning, language is a medium of(a tool for) communication not a subject, language is not a piece but a chunk, pure meaning-based activities with little attention to form(without linguistic interference) - process
③ focus on form - learn language in a meaningful context with an occasional shift to linguistic features - TBLT
2. process/product-oriented syllabus
① product-oriented syllabus - what language is learned (focus on predetermined knowledge and skills)
② process-oriented syllabus - how language is learned (stress learning experience without predetermined items)
+ procedural syllabus - a type of task-based syllabus in which classroom activities are organized around tasks and the procedures needed to accomplish them, such as using maps to find the quickest route to a destination
